By applying Okitsumo's heat-resistant paint to the surface of the stainless steel body, the Shella Cup achieves a matte black color while retaining the characteristics of the stainless steel material.
Okitsumo's expertise in heat-resistant paints dates back to 1957, when they pioneered the production of such paints based on silicone resin in Japan. The history of heat-resistant paints began with their application to cast coal stoves, as these paints were essential for withstanding temperatures up to 600°C (1,112°F), preventing rust, and maintaining the aesthetic appeal of stoves over an extended period.
Since then, heat-resistant paints have found applications in various areas affected by heat, from oil stoves and car/motorcycle mufflers to frying pans, gas stoves, and even rocket launchers. The key features of these paints are their silicone resin composition and inorganic pigments derived from natural minerals, which provide excellent heat resistance, release properties, and water repellency, as well as a muted natural tone.
Okitsumo's heat-resistant paint formulations are the result of decades of experience and careful selection of raw materials, tailored to specific applications. The process of developing these paints involves numerous trials and errors, with some formulations taking over two years to perfect. The final products are individually coated by skilled painters using advanced surface treatment technologies and high-temperature curing processes.
